Faculty of Engineering continues to be the center of quality education

Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK) have awarded 5-year accreditation to the Civil Engineering and Industrial Engineering programs of Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Engineering.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Serkan Abbasoğlu, stated that the Civil Engineering program has been accredited by MÜDEK since 2013 and the Industrial Engineering program since 2018, but they were evaluated for the first time within the framework of much stricter and more detailed new criteria and evaluation policy after the pandemic.
Dr. Abbasoğlu stated that MÜDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs) is an independent organization operating for the purpose of contributing to the enhancement of quality of engineering education by means of the accreditation and evaluation of and providing information services for engineering education programs in various disciplines, and drew attention to the fact that MÜDEK, which is a member of both the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) and the Washington Accord (WA), is an internationally recognized organization.
Pointing out that they went through a serious auditing process that started on March 3, 2023 within the framework of the new criteria, Abbasoğlu stated that the auditing process was completed with the field visit made in March 2024 and that they were entitled to receive 5-year accreditation without any deficiencies in all criteria, especially with the priority given to “Program Outputs”, “Continuous Improvement” and “Education Plan”.
He stated that with this accreditation in addition to the right to receive the "EUR-ACE Label" from the European Engineering Education Accreditation Network, the equivalence of the two programs has been confirmed again for all countries that are members of the Washington Accord (primarily America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Japan and other member European countries). Dr. Abbasoğlu also stated that engineering programs with the EUR-ACE  label have both European and international standards, and noted that with the MÜDEK accreditation, the recognition of CIU graduates by European employers is also guaranteed.
Abbasoğlu thanked the entire team, especially the program chairs, who contributed to this difficult process and stated that they will continue to work within the framework of CIU's quality vision and added that the other three engineering programs will go through a similar auditing process in the upcoming academic year.
