About

The School of Health Sciences, Cyprus International University started education in 2015-2016 academic year by taking students into the Department of Nursing. In our School, the Department of Nursing (2015-2016), Department of Nutrition and Dietetics (2016-2017), Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Department of Child Development and Health Management (2017-2018) were launched respectively with YÖK and YÖDAK approval. In the forthcoming semesters, the School of Health Sciences will continue to develop and grow together with the increase of new departments/programs, which will have priority in health care services, and the increasing number of students.

Mission and Vision

In line with the aims of the university, the school provides healthy/sick individuals, families, and the community with preventive, curative, and rehabilitative health services at national and international levels, taking the role of educator, practitioner, manager, and researcher as well as doing scientific studies for the betterment of the community and the profession, training health care personnel with the qualifications of a good communicator, critical thinker, and problem-solver, and user of scientific technology.

The school also aims to provide education and do research at national and international levels, having a strong institutional culture and well-established identity with qualified, expert academics who can combine science and community service. The graduates will have a privileged place in the field of health sciences and will be preferred by health institutions due to their successful health care practices.

Education Opportunities

At our campus in Nicosia, we have offices and laboratories in the same building as the School of Health Sciences and the Vocational School of Health Sciences. The theoretical knowledge and technical skills of are taught by well-known faculty members followed by students’ practical courses in health care institutions such as hospitals. The faculty hosts fully-equipped laboratories for nursing, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, nutrition, and anthropometry helping students develop their skills through the most up-to-date simulators, models, tools and equipment. Our students reinforce their knowledge and skills in hospitals during summer internships. Training and practice opportunities are offered within the framework of bilateral agreements CIU has made with the universities abroad. Students also have the option of working together with Non-Governmental Organizations. Accreditation procedures have also begun in departments with graduates. Students can take part in extra-curricular activities during their education in our faculty Health Club and other student societies. Our students also have the opportunity to participate in various scientific, social, and cultural events at national and international levels, such as meetings, workshops, conferences, and symposiums organized by our students and other departments for their own personal development.
