Cyprus International University ranked by the Times Higher Education (THE) World Rankings

CIU has been ranked by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. THE ranking assesses universities based on four critical pillars: teaching quality, research output, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. With over 25,000 universities worldwide, the THE World Rankings represent a comprehensive academic and research performance evaluation.

In the 2026 THE World University Rankings, CIU ranked in the #651–700 range among 2,092 global institutions found eligible to be ranked by the THE. This distinction highlights CIU’s continued commitment to fostering high-quality education, innovative research, and global partnerships. While still relatively young compared to some of the world's most established universities, CIU’s rapid rise in the rankings underscores its growing influence in the global academic community.

Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings

CIU’s performance in the THE Impact Rankings 2026 also highlights its strong position in sustainability. The University ranked #201–300 worldwide in the overall Sustainability Impact Rankings, while achieving 22nd place globally for “Affordable and Clean Energy” and 67th for “Climate Action.” CIU also ranked #101–200 in “Good Health and Wellbeing,” “Sustainable Cities and Communities,” and “Responsible Consumption and Production,” and #201–300 in “Partnership for the Goals.” These results reflect CIU’s continued commitment to integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into its education, research, and campus practices.

Additionally, CIU ranked 55th worldwide in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, further showcasing its eco-friendly initiatives. The campus features energy-efficient buildings, solar power installations, and a comprehensive waste management system.
