The 9 main trends that the tourism sector must adapt to after Covid-19

Cyprus International University (CIU) School of Tourism and Hotel Management Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Uludağ stated that as with all sectors, it is clear that the future of the tourism sector and the future of tourism has become a prevalent fact, and went on to say, “Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the conditions of travel have changed. For example, potential preventions such as being vaccinated becoming compulsory included, has made holidays in the foreseeable future, become harder.”

Within the scope of these difficulties, adding that options for travelling abroad will become limited for those who have not been vaccinated, Uludağ underlined that opportunities for people travelling domestically may even be affected.

Reminding that during the epidemic experienced across the world, a lot of people experienced loss of income, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uludağ continued, “This situation will have the potential to effect global travel negatively”.

In this context, Uludağ pointed out that in the field of tourism, the international views determined were united under 9 main trends, “These can be listed as, perfection within health and hygiene; to present tourism products throughout the year; distanced management and marketing via the use of technology; tourism for all; regenerative and conscious sustainable tourism, and necessary joint works”.

Stating that these 9 items will create the new face of tourism, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uludağ went on to advise, “These matters designed can be implemented in a timely manner and via cooperation. For example, the last point, within the scope of necessary cooperation, highlights the joint efforts between private-public, private-private institutions”.

Pointing out the great importance of presenting tourism products in different ranges throughout the year, Uludağ concluded, “The tourism industry obtains an unequal opportunity to reflect the future. This may be difficult in the face of limiting and constantly changing travel barriers, however, the travel industry has no other choice but to shape holidays anew in accordance to wants and desires”.
