Capstone Project Exhibition Held at CIU

The Capstone Project Exhibition, organized by the Faculty of Engineering at Cyprus International University (CIU), was held to showcase the graduation projects of students in their final year. At the exhibition, projects developed by students from various engineering programs were presented for evaluation by an academic jury.
Faculty of Engineering Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kuşaf highlighted the importance of the exhibition for students, stating: “This exhibition represents the final project that includes the main design experience prepared by our students prior to graduation. Capstone project studies involving engineering projects are real-life projects jointly carried out by all departments within our faculty with an interdisciplinary structure. They are the final products presented by our students before graduation.”
Conducting these projects in a manner that reflects real-life project processes enabled students to demonstrate, in an integrated way, the theoretical knowledge and practical skills they acquired throughout their education. It was noted that the works developed through the joint contributions of different engineering departments strengthened students’ competencies in project management, problem-solving, and analytical thinking.
Emphasizing that capstone projects play a significant role in students’ career planning, Prof. Dr. Kuşaf stated that project topics are proposed both by academics and by students who can participate in the process with project ideas aligned with their own career goals. Through this approach, students gain experience in areas in which they aim to specialize in the future. Within the scope of the exhibition, students presented their projects to a jury consisting of six academics through presentations and products, and following the evaluation based on the scores awarded, the top three projects will be selected. The Capstone Project Exhibition was successfully concluded as an important academic activity that prepares students for professional life in line with CIU’s vision of educating a qualified workforce.
