CIU and University of Limerick Sign Cooperation Agreement
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing academic cooperation has been signed between Cyprus International University (CIU) and the University of Limerick, one of Ireland’s distinguished higher education institutions. The agreement seeks to establish student and academic staff exchange programs, develop joint academic programs, conduct collaborative research activities, and strengthen cooperation across various academic fields.
Within the scope of the agreement, the two institutions will explore opportunities for collaborative research in areas of mutual interest, as well as joint activities through international seminars, workshops, and summer and winter schools. Particular emphasis will be placed on developing joint academic programs and research projects in disciplines including Economics and Administrative Sciences, Engineering, and Basic Sciences.
Prof. Colin Fitzpatrick, Vice President of the University of Limerick, who visited CIU, stated that he was highly impressed by the university’s physical infrastructure, students, and academic environment. He emphasized that the laboratories and research facilities were particularly noteworthy and expressed his belief that the collaboration between the two universities would create significant opportunities for both students and academics.
CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Erbuğ Çelebi noted that the agreement signed with the University of Limerick, one of Ireland’s leading higher education institutions, would contribute to the development of joint educational and research activities between the two universities and provide an important foundation for new academic projects.
CIU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova also highlighted that the cooperation with the University of Limerick would offer valuable opportunities for students, academic staff, and research centers. He stated that representatives responsible for exchange programs at the University of Limerick are expected to visit CIU during the fall semester to introduce academic programs developed within the framework of the partnership. Tanova emphasized that the joint initiatives to be implemented between the two institutions would enhance academic mobility and contribute to strengthening international cooperation.
During the meetings, it was noted that efforts related to student and academic staff exchange programs, as well as joint academic programs, are expected to gain momentum in the coming period. The collaboration between the two universities is anticipated to contribute significantly to increasing academic mobility and strengthening joint research activities.
