CIU “Demo Taste” Restaurant opens

“DEMO TASTE” Restaurant, affiliated to Cyprus International University (CIU) School of Tourism and Hotel Management, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Program is fully operational now.

All menus prepared within the scope of Demo Taste will be prepared under the supervision of CIU Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Program teachers and applicable to gastronomy students' skills acquired in classes.

CIU School of Tourism and Hotel Management Director Prof. Dr. Orhan Uludağ pointed out the importance of the Demo Taste Restaurant, which was created and put into service within the premises of the university and stated that their aim is to showcase the quality education they receive by processing the products in the kitchen according to their curriculum, under the close supervision of their teachers.

Uludağ said that the application of the knowledge learned while processing the product to be served in the Demo Taste Restaurant is a very important step in culinary arts, and said, “In this way, our students will have the chance to increase their professional development.”

Prof. Dr. Uludağ said that while adhering to the main theme of the restaurant, tasting the products prepared the students within the scope of their practical lessons is the primary goal of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts and added, “The products prepared using international methods in the Demo Taste kitchen are served with sauces, as well as complementary by-products that may vary depending on the food.”

Uludağ noted that the products will be served between 12:30pm and 1:30pm everyday of the week except Tuesdays; and thus, students will not only prepare the product but also gain hands on experience by applying what they have learned while serving the dishes.
