CIU examined the applications of artificial intelligence systems in the field of pharmacy

During the seminar organized by Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Pharmacy titled "Applications of Artificial Intelligence Systems in the Field of Pharmacy", USA-based academician and drug production consultant, Dr. Metin Çelik, made a speech.

During the event that was organized online due to the Covid-19 outbreak, Çelik especially discussed 21st century developments in the pharmaceutical industry.

Stating that at the beginning of the 21st century, the industry of pharmaceuticals entered a scientific, technological, and complex period that was beyond what could be dreamt of, Dr. Çelik went on to advise, "The future success of pharmaceutical science is related to how quickly pharmaceutical scientists can adapt to the rapidly changing technology”.

Highlighting that these technologies include continuous drug production, the establishment of 4.0-based production concepts, and strict regulations such as 'Quality in Design' and 'Process Analytical Technology', Çelik went on to advise, “Within new technologies, the use of Artificial Intelligence for many pharmaceutical companies will be the main support in their success and will even become vital”.

Dr. Çelik said, “During this process, there will be an increase in the awareness, use and applications within the development of pharmaceutical products and production, creation of new drug forms and the preparation of regulations and other fields of pharmaceuticals, which are based on artificial intelligence systems.

Providing past and present examples from the USA of artificial intelligence system projects carried out for different multinational companies, Çelik contributed to the visions of academicians and pharmacy students who attended the seminars from different disciplines.
