CIU FADA continues to be the choice of candidates who want to receive qualified design education

Due to the student-centered approach of the Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Fine Arts, Design, and Architecture (FADA), the quality of the architectural environment of the campus it is located in, which has been registered by international organizations, the development of its own traditions, its own “school”, and its experienced staff for 24 years, and because of the high professional success rate of its graduates, FADA continues to be the preference of candidates, who want to receive a qualified design education.

Advising that within the faculty there are 3 departments; Architecture, Interior Design, and Graphic Design, the FADA Acting Dean, Prof. Dr. Nezih Ayıran went on to say, “Within the Department of Architecture there are master’s and doctorate Programs, and within the Interior Design and Graphic Design Departments there are master’s Programs. Our Architectural Restoration and Interior Design Associate Degree Programs opened 3-yers ago”.

Advising that the Architecture Undergraduate Program is accredited by the Architectural Accreditation Board (MIAK), Ayıran underlined that in addition to the classrooms and studios, they have a total of 4 workshops: model, material, printmaking, and three-dimensional printing and scanning workshops.

Giving information in relation to the aims of the programs, Ayıran explained that their aim is to raise international level designers that are open minded, critical, and can think creatively, that can use developing technologies, and who will be at the forefront of social and professional life with their intellectual qualities.

Stating that those who graduate from the Department of Architecture have a wide field of working areas, Ayıran elaborated, “As well as being able to work as an architecture, graduates can also work at building and urban scale construction sites during the implementation of projects, within the industry related to the development and production of building elements and materials, or they can work in the field of design-related information technologies”.

Explaining that the Department of Interior Architecture graduates can work in architecture offices alongside architects on interior arrangements, Ayıran went on to state, “Within interior design offices, they can design interior spaces. They can set up their own offices and can develop themselves within the fields of design and marketing in relation to construction, furniture, and the retail sectors; they can design displays, stages, and the visuals of the world of show”.

Noting that graduates of the Department of Graphic Design are able to work within the advertising industry, printed and visual media, printing houses, and TV channels, Ayıran concluded, “In addition, they can also work as art directors, illustrators, game and new media application designers, animators, multimedia designers, print artists, packaging designers, font designers, a designer working within conceptual art, as a curator, photographer, web designer, information and direction designer, or as visual director working in the field of art”.
