CIU Fall Semester Graduation Supported by AI
The Fall Semester Graduation Ceremony of the 2025–2026 Academic Year at Cyprus International University (CIU) was held on January 29–30, 2026, at the Çevik Uraz Conference Hall. Nearly one thousand graduates from associate, undergraduate, and graduate programs successfully completed their academic studies and received their graduation certificates.
On behalf of the graduates, Muhammed Türker Yağız, a student from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, and Nneka Cho Bathsheba Mengwl, a student from the Faculty of Health Sciences, delivered speeches sharing their feelings and reflections on the graduation process.
In his opening address, CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Erbuğ Çelebi emphasized that graduation is not only the completion of an academic journey but also the beginning of a new life path. Drawing attention to the fact that digitalization, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and global collaborations have become decisive factors in today’s world, Çelebi stated that Cyprus International University approaches this transformation not as a follower, but as a leader. He noted that CIU has risen to 55th place in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings in the field of sustainability, becoming the greenest campus in Cyprus, and has maintained its position in the 601–800 band of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. He emphasized that the graduates are part of a university distinguished by its international achievements.
During the ceremony, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mete Boyacı and CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Erbuğ Çelebi presented certificates of appreciation to doctoral graduates of the Graduate School of Education and Research.
Throughout the two-day ceremonies, graduates from the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research; Faculty of Education; Faculty of Arts and Sciences; Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences; Faculty of Communication; Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture; Faculty of Law; School of Tourism and Hotel Management; Faculty of Engineering; School of Applied Sciences; Vocational School; Faculty of Pharmacy; Faculty of Health Sciences; School of Health Sciences; Vocational School of Health Sciences; and the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies took the stage to celebrate their graduation.
A QR code–based digital stage management system was used during the graduation ceremony. Providing personalized QR codes to graduates prior to the event, stage order was automatically generated, while students’ names and information were managed simultaneously through digital systems throughout the ceremony. Graduates’ names were also announced using AI-supported text-to-speech technology, voiced with accents appropriate to the students’ countries. This digital infrastructure ensured a more efficient and orderly ceremony flow while offering graduates a modern and contemporary graduation experience.
