CIU International 2022 Futsal Cup started with a match between Pakistan and Sierra Leone

Cyprus International University (CIU) International 2022 Futsal Cup started last night at the CIU Arena Sport Complex with an opening match.

In the tournament organized by the Sports Affairs Directorate and the International Center, a total of 18 teams from countries like the TRNC, Turkey, Sierra Leone, Jordan, Pakistan, Nigeria, Iran, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, Palestine, Ghana and Liberia will compete to be proclaimed the winner.

Speaking at the opening of the tournament, CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri expressed his satisfaction for the organization of such a great event within the premises of the university and thanked those who contributed.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Nadiri stated that sports activities not only have the power to unite but also to contribute to socialization, and to develop team spirit. The Rector said the university will continue to support such events all the time.

Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri said as a  University  they will work to organize such tournaments  continuously, and wished success to all the athletes participating in the tournament.

Following CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri’s opening speech, there was a musical performance  by Badria Gibril Sesay from the CIU International Center and a dance show performed by the dance groups on campus which all added color and liveliness  to the night.

All the matches during this tournament will be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of the University. The Rector kicked-off the event and the first match was between Pakistan and Sierra Leone.
