“CIU New Year Festival” marks the New Year Joy

The "New Year Festival" organized by Cyprus International University (CIU) that continued for two days full of colorful events, fun photograph areas and concerts was received great interest from both  students and academics.

At the festival held in the CIU Nature Cafe area, there were food vendors, student clubs and international student societies displaying their promotional materials, Famagusta Cultural Center, photo booth sponsored by Telsim Vodafone, and, last but not least, Dance FM DJs made all CIU members feel the joy of the coming year with their dynamic stage performances.

Social Activities and Student Clubs Coordinator Selen Akün Kalaycı stated that on the first day of the festival, Joker Brass Band team performed their traditional show, and they marched around the CIU campus playing  new year music. She stated that on the second day of the festival, there were music clubs’ performances and dance club shows.  Telsim also sponsored the “Women First Project” that was organized as part of the New Year and Christmas Festival Week '22 events and the handcrafts of women were displayed for prospective buyers. 

Kalaycı said the students not only had fun with the celebrations welcoming New Year, but they also found the opportunity to socialize, and noted that they had the chance to promote the productions of student societies, student clubs and student council.

Kalaycı added that CIU students will donate part of their earnings from the sales to an institution. 

Sedef Arslan, a junior year Department of Interior Architecture student, speaking about the festival, stated that the purpose of the Architecture Club booth was to enable the students to depict the new year 2023 on paper and to improve their drawing skills.
