CIU provides information security awareness training for academic and administrative staff

Cyprus International University (CIU) Computer Center Directorate provides "Information Security Awareness Training" to university administrative and academic staff.

The training that was provided by Computer Center Director Mustafa Çağataylı, was both in the English and Turkish Languages.

Explaining to the users of the university system information sources the points that need to be paid attention to, Çağataylı also gave information in relation to secure use of computer systems and the precautions that can be taken in reducing the damage to information resources and the network, caused by user errors.

Speaking in relation to the basic definitions on the subject and information security threats, Çağataylı shared detailed information in relation to information confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity.

Making a statement in relation to the types of attacks, Çağataylı presented solutions in relation to subjects such as DOS/DDOS, changes to web page content, viruses, and cyber blackmail.

Drawing attention to the fact that attacks and threats can be divided in two, as internal and external, Çağataylı reminded that in the event of a cyber-attack, loss of resources, time, honor, and image can be experienced.

Providing users information in relation to reliable connections and secure operations, Çağataylı emphasized the points to pay attention to in relation to e-mail and social media use, the importance of ID and password information, how to protect such information, as well as how crating back-ups can save you.

Giving information in relation to the CIU IT Resources Usage Regulation and the TRNC Cyber Crime Law at the end of the training, Çağataylı highlighted the importance of the regulations and the laws in work life.
