The CIU School of Physical Education and Sports is ready for the new Academic Year

The Cyprus International University (CIU) School of Physical Education and Sports (SPES), with its Physical Education and Sports Teaching, Sports Trainers Education, Sports Management, and Recreation Training Undergraduate Programs, is awaiting its students for the 2021-2022 Academic year.

CIU SPES Director Prof. Dr. Ali Emre Erol stated, “We aim to raise sports trainers within the scope of our programs, who have a high quality of research, who have a team spirit, who share, who have a participative approach, who will serve within the field of sports sciences, who are dynamic, and contemporary”.

Drawing attention to the fact that the school provides education-teaching within an integrated facility spread across 7500 square meters, Erol went on to say, “We provide training within the CIU Arena Sports Complex, which has 6 classrooms, a multi-purpose sports hall with double tribunes, an 8-lane indoor swimming pool with tribunes, a fitness center, two studios, an indoor-outdoor climbing wall, foyer and resting areas, 7-way indoor shooting range, 2 outdoor tennis courts, 2 outdoor basketball courts, 2 outdoor AstroTurf football fields, and 2 outdoor volleyball courts”.

Explaining that within the scope of academic work, that they have updated their program content, Prof. Dr. Erol underlined that in order to maintain the education with due diligence and to enable student motivation, they have carried out a number of efforts in this area and that they are continuing to provide education with academic staff who are recognized in their fields, in an effort to ensure the highest-level quality of education.

Erol also went on to state that they have begun efforts for students to participate in practices during holiday periods, within high level sports clubs and institutions in Turkey, within the scope of criteria determined by SPES, and that with this, they have created an environment for students to gain work experience.

Stating that they are in communication with organizations that are within the TRNC sports structure, Prof. Dr. Erol concluded, "We have made many collaborations with the TRNC Youth and Sports Department, sports federations, tourism businesses, and sports clubs."
