CIU students meet at the pocket cinema

The Library Club, which is located within the Social Activities and Student Clubs Coordinate, connected to the Cyprus International University (CIU) Student Development and Counseling Center, organized a cinema night named “Mamma Mia” especially for 14th February Valentine’s Day.

Library Manager and Library Club Supervisor Özlem Araz, advised that they organized this activity as they wanted to watch a film with the students that is themed upon love, on Valentine’s Day.

Stating that a number of people believe that Valentine’s Day is a day that only people with a partner can celebrate, Araz expressed that for them, it has a much wider meaning than this.

Explaining that at the university, along with the students they make up one big family, Özlem Araz went on to state, “When organizing the cinema night, our aim was to come together with our students and to share with them. Thanks to this, our students both socialized and had an enjoyable time”.

Library Club President Annette Siakamba noted that on this special day, they wanted to bring together all their student friends, and thanks to this, show those who do not have a partner that they are not alone and that they have people around them that value them”.

Elaborating further, Siakamba noted that the Mamma Mia film containing important messages such as “Life is short, but the world is big, good things happen at the most unexpected times, and do things that will make your soul shine” effected their decision in choosing this film.

The film showing came to an end with the Library Directorate giving out gift books prepared with the 14th February Valentine’s Day theme, to the students.
