CIU workshop hosted Hüseyin Kırmızı, the artist
Within the scope of the 5th Design Festival organized by Cyprus International University (CIU), Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, a workshop was held with the participation of one of the well-known artists of our country, Hüseyin Kırmızı.
Hüseyin Kırmızı’s work Ucubeler Sirki published in 2020 inspired the theme of this year’s workshop “Music, Design, Architecture-5” which was organized under the leadership of Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Öztürk, Dr. Nezire Özgece, Lecturers Mete Mutlu Balkıs and Meray Taluğ.
Speaking at the event, Hüseyin Kırmızı said that his work creates a paradox in itself from a philosophical and logical point of view, and that it is basically the story of the main character’s search for freedom.
Kırmızı said the story is told in chapters in the book, "With 12 symphonic sketches composed for each chapter; it is a literary and musical work that can be read and listened to and at the same time offering many spatial narratives."
Speaking at the event, Dr. Özgece noted that the students who participated in the workshop had the opportunity to listen to the story from the author, and to experience the orchestral composition of the story.
Expressing that the common similarities between architecture and music and the transitions in emotion and imagination were examined within the framework of the workshop, Özgece said that they wanted the students to match these two branches of art: architecture and music.
Özgece expressed her happiness in seeing Hüseyin Kırmızı at their workshop, and that she personally benefited from it a lot, as seeing how different fine arts disciplines recreate works through their own perspectives which helped her own imaginative skills move up one step further.
