Early Childhood Education Digital Transformation Workshops were held

Cyprus International University (CIU) and the TRNC Ministry of Education Joint Services Department cooperatively organized the event “Digital transformation workshop in early childhood education”, which saw intense participation, within the scope of in-service trainings for teachers.

Within the framework of the program, each day a different subject was taken to hand within this event, such as workshops held on the role of drama in education, STEM applications, the role of teachers in new generation education, portfolio in preschool education, the rights of children in the digitalized world, digital classroom applications, e-portfolio, and digital platform mathematic games.

Taking to hand drama as a contemporary method, CIU Academic Staff Assist. Prof. Dr. Elif Ünal Bozcan provided the teachers with practical suggestions, drawing attention to the role of drama in education.

CIU Academic Staff Assist. Prof. Dr. Sevinç Kaçar carried out a workshop on transformation, where STEM applications were explained and the application of STEM in early childhood examples were presented.

On the third day of the workshops, field specialist Salih Sarpten provided information in relation to the role of preschool teachers within new generation education, with suggestions made for the efficiency of the distance education process.

CIU Academic Staff Assist. Prof. Dr. Belgin Parlakyıldız provided information in relation to portfolios within preschool education, drawing attention to the role portfolios play within the evaluation process of children.

CIU Academic Staff Assist. Prof. Dr. Şölen Külahçı gave suggestions in relation to the actions to be taken due to online risks, in the face of various dangers and invisible threats.

In his speech in relation to digital classroom applications during the preschool period, CIU Academic Staff Assist. Prof. Dr. Osman Vaiz emphasized that in order for the distance education process to run more smoothly, it is important for students to take more responsibility and for there to be teacher-parent cooperation.

Taking to hand the issue of E-portfolio within childhood, Field Expert Başak Eser Erken shared examples of pre-school period digital portfolios and various other activities, giving information in relation to the points to be considered.

Speaking at the closing event, CIU Academic Staff Assist. Prof. Dr. Sarem Özdemir educated on mathematic games upon the digital platform and loving mathematics. Özdemir also gave practical suggestions for the development of problem solving skills within education.
