The importance of indoor quality was felt more prominently during the period of the pandemic

CIU Faculty of Fine Arts Design and Architecture Vice Dean, and Department of Interior Design Chair, Prof. Dr. Sevinç Kurt, speaking in relation to World Interiors Day stated, “People of the modern age tend to spend most of their life indoors. Especially during the pandemic period, the duration that people experienced indoors increased so much that the importance of the quality of interior space was felt more prominently”.

Stating that colors, materials, details and all the possibilities offered by technology are shaped in the hands of the designer, Prof. Dr. Kurt expressed that they create spaces according to the users wishes, and that unity of freedom and new experiences is exhibited in this process.

Stating that during the creation process, some physical and technical principles, as well as the cultural needs of people are taken into account, Kurt went on to state, “In this way, interior architecture with its feature as a three-dimensional useful art interprets aesthetic, pragmatic, psychological, emotional, cultural, physical, functional, economic, and the intellectual, to obtain comfort of space”.

Reminding that the International Federation of Interior Architects / Designers (IFI) determined Saturday, 29th May 2021, as World Interiors Day for 2021, Kurt went on to conclude, “The year 2021, which gives hope for the return of the normal aspects of life, is being discussed with professional and academic activities held with the theme of 'Design as a Global Speech' for the health and safety of societies, to determine new ways of working, learning, teaching, communicating and social recovery”.

In this context, stating that a number of events were organized globally, Kurt informed that throughout the month of May, WEBINAR seminars were organized by the CIU FADA Interior Architecture Department, and that these events will continue during the month of June.
