Information and Skills Competitions Hosted by CIU

Cyprus International University (CIU) hosted two important events organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture's Vocational and Technical Education Department. The “Hair Care and Beauty Information and Skills Competition” and the “Agricultural Technologies Information and Skills Competition” took place on the CIU campus with high participation.

During the event, the Minister of Education and Culture Nazım Çavuşoğlu, CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri, Director of the Ministry of Education and Culture’s Vocational and Technical Education Department Gülşen Hocanın, and Director of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources Reşat Değirmenci delivered speeches.

In his speech, Minister of Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu emphasized the importance of vocational high schools, stating that it is a fundamental duty for everyone to acquire a profession. He thanked CIU for hosting the event and addressed the students participating in the competition, wishing them “success for the benefit of our country.”
CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri, in his speech, highlighted that universities are not limited to education alone but also have significant responsibilities such as serving the community, contributing to development, rewarding and encouraging success. Nadiri mentioned that students who excel in the competition would receive a full scholarship if they were admitted to the university through exams and wished all participants success.

During the event, Atatürk Vocational High School, Famagusta Vocational High School, and Karpaz Vocational High School participated competition in the “Beauty” category, while Güzelyurt Vocational High School participated in both the “Beauty” and “Agricultural Technologies” categories.

In the Hair Design category, Eylül Mete from Karpaz Vocational High School placed first, Kayra Çığ from Famagusta Vocational High School placed second, Aycahan Nazarova from Atatürk Vocational High School placed third, and Süleyman Kardeşoğlu from Güzelyurt Vocational High School placed fourth.

In the Makeup category, Gizem Toplu from Atatürk Vocational High School placed first, Beyza Ağcabay from Karpaz Vocational High School placed second, Tuana Karabacak from Famagusta Vocational High School placed third, and Suheyla Kızılyürek from Güzelyurt Vocational High School placed fourth.

In the Agricultural Technologies category, Süleyman Yalçın, Mehmet Özer, Eren Güler, and Ramadan Ormanlı from Güzelyurt Vocational High School took first place; Emre Okutan, İbrahim Turay, Efe Gayi, and Mustafa Kovancı took second place; and Ali Şanoğlu, Lokman Akkuş, Ali Okkan, and Mehmet Sönmezay secured third place.
At the end of the competition, it was announced that the award ceremony would take place at a later date, where the students who ranked would receive their awards.
