International Scientific Achievement for CIU Academic
Assist. Prof. Dr. Doğuş Hürdoğanoğlu, Vice Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of Cyprus International University (CIU), has been awarded in the “Science and Sustainability Award” category the Study UK Alumni Awards 2026 organized by the British Council. The award was presented at a ceremony held in Nicosia in collaboration with the British Council Cyprus and the British High Commission Nicosia.
The Study UK Alumni Awards program, organized annually on an international scale by the British Council, evaluates the academic, professional, and societal contributions of graduates who have studied in the United Kingdom. The awards are presented in four main categories: Business and Innovation, Culture, Creativity and Sport, Science and Sustainability, and Social Action.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Doğuş Hürdoğanoğlu received this award in recognition of his work in sustainable energy, advanced engineering applications, energy systems, environmental resilience, and socially beneficial technical studies. The evaluation process considered candidates’ academic backgrounds, professional achievements, societal contributions, and the impact of their UK education on their careers.
Following an international call for applications, finalists were determined through evaluations, and category winners were announced by a jury. Assist. Prof. Dr. Doğuş Hürdoğanoğlu was first named a finalist in the Science and Sustainability category and subsequently became the winner of the category.
This achievement demonstrates that efforts in sustainable infrastructure solutions, advanced engineering applications, and academia-industry collaboration are gaining international recognition.
