A Journey at the Intersection of Culture, Communication, and Art
At the seminar titled “A Journey at the Intersection of Culture, Communication, and Art,” organized by the Turkish Club of Cyprus International University (CIU), former news presenter, playwright, and handicraft artist Sevil Emirzade met with students. During the event, Cyprus’s cultural heritage and the societal reflections of individual experiences were discussed.
In the seminar, Emirzade shared moments from her life story and evaluated cultural transformations from past to present. She emphasized that communication is not only an interaction between individuals but also a way for societies to express themselves, highlighting the importance of proper language use. With the statement, “Communication plays a crucial role in helping people understand each other better and in solving social problems,” she underlined the role of effective communication in both individual and societal development.
The seminar also addressed the importance of preserving local dialects, which are an essential part of Turkish Cypriot culture, while emphasizing that the correct use of standard Turkish should not be neglected. Emirzade noted that art and literature are important tools for personal development and stressed the need for young people to actively engage in reading, research, and creative production. It was also highlighted that cultural production is a powerful means for societies to express themselves and art plays a significant role in cultural transmission.
At the end of the seminar, Sevil Emirzade gifted one of her authored books to the students. The event concluded with a group photo session.
