Joy of Graduation at CIU

CIU’s new graduates tossed their graduation caps in the air

Cyprus International University (CIU) 2022-2023 Academic Year Fall Graduation Ceremony was held in the Conference Hall of Çevik Uraz Center.  CIU Administration, Faculty Deans, Institute and School Directors, faculty members as well as the families of graduates attended the ceremony.

The ceremony started with the opening speeches of Sinem Yıldırım, a graduate of the Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture,  and David Mpanga Kashala, a graduate of the Department of Environmental Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering which they delivered in  Turkish and English on behalf of the graduating class.

“The knowledge and skills you have acquired with the education you have received prepares you to a successful future”

CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri stated in his speech at the graduation ceremony that 754 students from 39 different countries graduated in the fall semester of the 2022-2023 Academic Year, and the total number of graduates have reached approximately 23 thousand.

Noting that CIU continues to advance its goals in the field of research every year, Nadiri noted that the number of publications and citations in international scientific indexed journals has increased, and the number of publications in scientific journals scanned in Scopus, one of the most respected indexes in the world, has increased by 63% compared to 2021.

Nadiri reminded that as a result of the work they carried out as CIU, they succeeded in being among the first hundred in the Green Metrics World Universities Ranking in 2022, and said, "Our university has achieved an important success by ranking 71st."

Congratulating the graduate students in his speech, Nadiri said, “You have put in a lot of effort and worked hard to reach this day. The education you have received provided you with the necessary knowledge and experience for a bright future. You have the potential and ability to overcome the obstacles that may come your way; you will without doubt reach your goals.”

After the speeches, diplomas were presented at the ceremony on the first day starting with the Institute of Graduate Education and Research graduates. In the second session of the first day, the graduates of the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and Faculty of Communication enjoyed the joy and excitement of receiving their graduation certificates.

On the second day of the CIU Fall Semester Graduation Ceremony, the Faculty of Engineering, School of Applied Sciences, Vocational School, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Health Sciences, Vocational School of Health Sciences, Vocational School of Justice, Faculty of Law, School of Physical Education and Sports, Tourism and Hotel Management School graduates received their graduation certificates.

The graduation ceremony sessions were broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of the university; following the presentation of the graduation certificates, the ceremony ended with the graduates’ cap throwing and group photo shoots.
