Over 2 thousand graduates

Cyprus International University (CIU) held the 2019-2020 Academic Year Spring Semester graduation ceremony digitally in line with the measures taken by the TRNC Council of Ministers regarding the COVID-19 outbreak.

During the graduation ceremony, the TRNC Minister of National Education and Culture Nazım Çavuşoğlu and Rector of CIU Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri gave the opening speeches.

The graduation ceremony that lasted about 3.5 hours in the digital environment ended with the messages of the Deans and Directors to the graduates, calling out the names of the graduate candidates, the academics' farewell message to the graduates, and the symbolic convocation ceremony.

Developing and growing continuously since its establishment in 1997, CIU had over 2000 graduates in the Spring semester of 2019-2020. According to the information given from CIU, the graduation ceremony is available for viewing on the official CIU YouTube channel for those who are interested.

Minister of National Education and Culture Nazım Çavuşoğlu: "We are proud."

The TRNC Minister of National Education and Culture, Nazım Çavuşoğlu said that TRNC is a country that has made its name known to the world, especially with its universities. "Students from 140 different countries of the world study in high-quality institutions of our country and then, have a successful career as a result of this high-quality education".

During his speech, Çavuşoğlu recorded that they have decided not to organize collective graduation ceremonies upon the recommendations of the Scientific Committee of the Council of Ministers, and added: “At this point, we are witnessing the preparation of online graduation ceremonies for our graduates via adapting to the digital world and we are deeply proud of this”.

Minister Çavuşoğlu pointed out that Cyprus International University stands out with its sustainable campus feature, and the university, with its 900 thousand square meter area, science and technology practices, agricultural studies and the largest sports complex of Cyprus and once again proved itself in the digital world through another success story.

Rector of CIU Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri: "Our total number of graduates exceeded 16 thousand."

Speaking at the Spring Semester Graduation ceremony, Rector of CIU Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri pointed out that there are many changes in everyone's life due to the COVID-19 pandemic that influenced the world and mentioned that as a result of the timely measures taken by TRNC, the precautions regarding COVID-19 has been continuing successfully.

Prof. Dr. Nadiri said that 2183 students from 43 different countries graduated and continued, "Our total number of graduates has exceeded 16 thousand".

Stating that the graduates of CIU will be dynamic, productive and creative new members in the sectors they will take part in, Nadiri said, "We are proud of you as you earned the right to graduate by completing your education at the end of a long and tiring process".
