Prof. Dr. Cemil Atakara Elected as the New President of MIDEKON

Prof. Dr. Cemil Atakara, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Cyprus International University (CIU), was elected as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Council of Deans of Architecture (MIDEKON) for the 2025–2027 term, following the elections held at the Ordinary Electoral General Assembly of MIDEKON.

The Ordinary Electoral General Assembly of MIDEKON took place at the Meeting Hall of the Faculty of Architecture at Middle East Technical University. During the assembly, the members of the new Board of Directors who will serve in the upcoming term were determined.

Comprising the deans of faculties of architecture from universities in Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, MIDEKON aims to enhance the quality of architectural education, strengthen academic collaboration, and produce solutions to common challenges in higher education. In the new term, the Council aims to pursue its efforts more effectively in areas such as the development of educational programs, accreditation processes, raising professional standards, and strengthening academic solidarity.

Following his election as President, Prof. Dr. Cemil Atakara emphasized that MIDEKON is a strategic platform for architectural education, stating, “We will resolutely continue our efforts to strengthen cooperation among faculties of architecture, promote collective wisdom, and enhance the quality of education.”
