“Student Welcoming and Orientation Days” being organized for CIU students

The Social Activities Coordinate that is connected to the Cyprus International University (CIU) Student Development and Counseling Center (SDCC), is organizing the Student Welcoming and Orientation Days for the 2021-2022 Academic Year Fall Semester.

After the method of education being provided as a mixed form of online and face-to-face for a long period of time due to the Covid-19 pandemic that has been experienced across the world and in the TRNC, the CIU Orientation Days is being organized along with the transfer to face-to-face education within the framework of the pandemic precautions, which will be supported with the sponsorship of Turkcell’s youth brand; Gnçtrkcll.

The Welcoming and Orientation Programs have been organized for the students who registered during the 2020-2021 Academic year but were unable to come to the island, and those who have newly registered for the 2021-2022 Academic year, in an effort to introduce them to the campus university life and Northern Cyprus.

The Social Activities Coordinator Selen Akün Kalaycı stated, “As well as providing the opportunity for quality education to students from Turkey and other countries, with our Orientation Days, our university additionally offers its students registering for the first time the opportunity to get to know the country they are studying in closely, and to connect with the local society and culture”.

Explaining that the CIU Orientation Days began on the 15th September within the scope of the COVID-19 precautions, with the greeting of the students arriving at Ercan airport and at the tourism ports, Kalaycı went on to say, “Within the framework of the program, the facilities of the university are introduced and informative meetings are held, as well as wide-ranging entertaining activities and cultural city tours”.

Drawing attention to the fact that they prepare such an organization with the aim of new students being positively motivated when beginning their life of education and in an effort to ease their assimilation process, Kalaycı also explained that the Orientation Days Activity Program will be from 4th October – 4th November.

Informing that a string of events will be organized, such as a campus tour, open-air cinema, treasure hunt games, student clubs and society festival, Halloween celebration, dance show, and art performances, within the framework of the Orientation Days and again, within the scope of the COVID-19 precautions, Kalaycı noted that the program will come to an end with the concert that will take place at the Returning Home Party.
