Successes Celebrated at CIU Gala and Awards Night
Cyprus International University organized a Gala and Awards Night to recognize academic productivity and student achievements while bringing the university community together. The event, attended by university administrators, academics, students, and invited guests, featured the presentation of awards in various categories.
The opening speech of the evening was delivered by CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Erbuğ Çelebi. In his speech, Çelebi highlighted the university’s position in international higher education rankings and stated that CIU’s achievements in the fields of academia and sustainability have increased its visibility on a global scale. He noted that the university continues a steady development process through its quality-oriented approach and environmental responsibility. Çelebi also emphasized that the event was a meaningful occasion that brought together the university community to celebrate shared successes.
During the program, CIU Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asil Azimli spoke about the sustainability initiatives carried out at the university. Azimli provided information about projects such as recycling practices, energy efficiency initiatives, energy production through solar panels, and building automation systems. He also shared details about the university’s preparations for international sustainability assessments and stated that efforts to reduce carbon emissions on campus are ongoing.
Speeches were also delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eliz Volkan, Lecturer Berna Ozansoy, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Havva Gözgen. As part of the program, awards were presented in various categories, ranging from academic research and social contribution projects to student achievements and sustainability practices. The efforts of student organizations were recognized with appreciation, while music and stage performances added vibrancy to the evening. The event concluded as a comprehensive gathering reflecting the shared values and understanding of success within the university community.
