The Vagal system was discussed at an event organized by the CIU Faculty of Pharmacy

Academic staff and anatomy specialist of the Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Uğur Baran Kasırga (MD), organized the seminar titled “Long Live the Vagus”.

During the seminar in which students and faculty members from the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy displayed a great interest, after presenting the basic information in relation to the Vagal system, Dr. Kasırga explained with examples the connections between the Polyvagal system and social behavior patterns.

Giving information in relation to the anatomical structure of the 10th cranial nerve called the Vagus, which is the longest nerve in our body, Dr. Kasırga drew attention to its effects on the heart, lungs, and digestive system.

Sharing examples of daily life polyvagal theory within his presentation, Kasırga analyzed the connection of anatomical information with current life.

Within his talk, Dr. Kasırga explained the Polyvagal theory from the perspectives of anatomy, evolution, and neuroscience, providing examples of the implications of Polyvagal theory in the management of our emotions.

After the presentation, the academic staff and the students forwarded a variety of questions to Dr. Kasırga, and after the questions were answered, Dr. Uğur Baran Kasırga was presented with a certificate of appreciation by the Faculty of Pharmacy Dean, Prof. Dr. Yasemin Yazan.
