World Design Day Celebrated at CIU with an event themed “Storm Graphic Design”

The Graphic Design Department and Graphic Club of Cyprus International University (CIU), Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture (FFADA), organized a design event on the occasion of the World Design Day based on the theme "Storm Graphic Design".

Assist. Prof. Dr. Gürkan Gökaşan, the Graphic Club advisor and a faculty member in FFDA, said April 27th World Design day is celebrated internationally to emphasize the significance of design in our daily lives. He said FFDA students, and Graphic Club members participated in this event.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Gürkan Gökaşan stated that the students exchanged with their friends the drawings they designed within the scope of the event, and said, “In this way, they had the chance to experience concepts such as interaction, diversity, creativity and cooperation. In addition, they were given the opportunity to work collaboratively to combine art and design.”

Gökaşan pointed to the importance of celebrating the World Design Day with an event with large scale participation, and said students were encouraged to be a part of a competition celebrated on the same day as the rest of the world, and added that they have already started working on new future events.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Gürkan Gökaşan reminded that graphic designers are designers who strengthen communication with touches that make it more practical, and said they will try to make this field more prominent among others with different projects in the upcoming days.
