About the Program

For the first time in TRNC, Hair Care and Beauty Services Program was founded in our university. The medium of instruction for the program is Turkish. Our four-year associate degree program was founded under YÖDAK supervision, after which it was received YÖK accreditation and started to accept students from Turkey as well. Our instructors, who teach field courses of the program, are experts in their own areas and offer both theoretical and practical courses. Our program, in accordance with the current technological advancements, aims to train professional staff who can communicate effectively, have technical knowledge and skills relevant to the profession, are creative, innovative, have research skills and can contribute to the development of the country and the profession by continuously renewing themselves through following the developments in the field, having unique ideas, holding the client's requests at the foreground and acting as analytical individuals and professional cosmetologist.

Educational Opportunities

Hair Care and Beauty Services Program provides hands-on training at hair care, make-up and make-up practices and skin-body care workshops that are equipped with the latest technological equipment. At our hair care and make-up practices workshop, our students work on sage permanent and temporary shaping, dying and cutting hair, beautifying makeup, in addition to many other practices covered during hair and make-up classes including stage make-up and special effects make-up. At the skin and body care workshop, students can work on, lymph drainage device, isometric, thermolysis needle hair removal with the skin care devices and with IPL devices skin analysis and diagnosis can be done and cosmetic products can be chosen. Students can apply special products such as wrinkle, stain treatment, acne care, oxygen therapy, peeling and mask as well as special applications such as local body thinning and tightening with passive gymnastic and lymphatic drainage devices.

Career Areas

Students, who graduate from Hair Care and Beauty Services program, can work in the field of hairdressing and beauty which is one of the widest areas of the service sector. They can work in specialized and managerial positions in local or international companies that produce goods and services in cosmetics sales centers with their international associate degree diplomas; at hairdressing salons and beauty centers as hair stylists and aestheticians; as makeup artists and special effect makeup experts in television companies, theatres and film studios. They can also work as spa therapists and managers in the spa centers or in the hospitals; as skin care specialists in the skin care units of hospitals; as manicure-pedicure experts and nail designers in nail salons. In addition to these, our graduates have the opportunity to be contract teachers in private vocational training institutions or in vocational public schools.

The aim of this course is to give the students an understanding about the computer fundamentals such as type of computers, hardware, software, network, web, Internet, computer security and other emerging technologies such as e-commerce, blogs, wiki, RSS, social networking, and Google applications, health concerns, green computing, and accessibility. Students will understand many of the key ethical, legal and social issues related to information technology and how to interpret and comply with ethical principles, laws, and regulations. At the end of this course students will be familiar with the computer terminology as well as hands-on practices with some of the application programs using Microsoft Office (Word and PowerPoint) exercising on preparing reports, formatting, inserting charts etc.

The course introduces students with basic speech patterns at the elementary level. Through listening students will identify different sound rhythms and practice pronunciation of letters, words and phrases. Through speaking students will identify different register and use the given language in an appropriate way. In addition students will be able to define themselves or others, answer questions in the Present Simple tense, use the prepositions of place, and talk about their daily routines. Through reading students read paragraphs and simple texts to improve their general comprehension of the passages, and answer the given comprehension questions. Through writing, students will be able to compose guided,controlled paragraphs in the Present Simple tense, and recycle the obtained new vocabulary to produce their own sentences.

This course aims to teach concepts concerning computer assisted education, its basic theories, implementation methods. It will introduce Microsoft Word and how to use the most common formatting and review tools needed to create a Word Document that can be printed. This course also introduces the student to PowerPoint, which is a Microsoft application that lets one create professional computerized presentations. The presentations can include slides, animations, graphics, drawings, and more. Students will be taught to building and editing worksheets, formatting and printing worksheets, sorting, filtering, and analyzing list data; working with formulas and functions, and charting in MS Excel. In this course students will learn as well the basic concepts of macros.

INGL124 is the continuation of INGL123. The course integrates the four main skills at a higher elementary level for students. Through recessive skills, which are listening and reading, students identify different sound rhythms and practice the pronunciation of letters, words and phrases. Also, by reading higher level paragraphs and texts, students infer the meaning of new words by using their existing vocabulary. Through productive skills, which are speaking and writing, students identify different register and use the given language in an appropriate way. Furthermore, students use the Present Continuous and Past Simple tenses to participate in basic dialogues and daily exchanges, and express themselves effectively. Also, through writing, students produce their own sentences by recycling the obtained new vocabulary in guided, controlled paragraphs they compose.

This course allows students to discover the chemistry of cosmetics. The main aim of this course is to provide the students with the knowledge of communication; understanding, listening, self-expression, understanding speech and communication through body language. Basic features of oral language and verbal communication, basic principles of good speech; The basic features of a good speaker such as the preparation of the necessary information in the social life after the preparation of the unprepared and prepared speech, the transfer of ideas towards the other side of the information will be given to students with practical studies. TRNC citizens and TR citizen candidate students who have completed their entire high school education in TRNC. They are placed in undergraduate programs in line with their success in the CIU Student Placement and Scholarship Ranking Exam and the programs they prefer.

Students who are successful in the exam can register from the TRNC Marketing Office.

Cyprus International University provides academic scholarships for its students as an incentive for success, with most students benefiting from 50%, 75% or 100% scholarships or discounted tuition fees. Click for more information.

Tuition Fees are determined at the beginning of each academic year. Candidate students who are entitled to enroll in CIU can learn their fees in line with the Tuition Fee Calculation system.
