“Atilla Yücel Sketch Contest”

The jury evaluation of the “Atilla Yücel Sketch Competition” about “Historical and Modern Living Spaces” organized by the Student Personal Development Activity Committee of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, Cyprus International University (CIU) was finalized.

In the competition, Chigoziem Odumagun won the first place, Yelçin Yavuz won the second place and Selen Paşmakcıoğlu won the third place. Mustafa Kalaycı, Emirhan Göktaş, Zeki Batuhan Baran, Gürpınar Olay, and Mesut Tutsak were honored by the jury.

The jury, consisting of the Acting Dean of FFADA, Prof. Dr. Nezih Ayıran and lecturers, Didem Çelik Bay, Meray Taluğ, Zeref Birsel, and Vildan Açan, approved 73 applications out of 126 to be exhibited.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Songür Dağ, Asst. Prof. Dr. Parastoo Pourvahidi and Dr. Gültekin Çizgen were the Advisors of the Student Personal Development Activity Committee; and Buse Atayayardımcı, Mahmut Demirtaş, and Furkan Öncü were assigned as student representatives.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Songür Dağ, Head of the Department of Graphic Design said the event was organized to commemorate Atilla Yücel, Turkey's leading architectural theorist and practitioner, who passed away in 2018: "We commemorate our teacher due to the occasion, and aim to raise our students’ awareness on examining historical cities and residential spaces, protecting, analyzing and creating living spaces”.
