Hat design workshop was organized

Turkish Cypriot Fashion Designer Ali K. Yahi met with the students of Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture (FFADA) and held a Hat Design Workshop.

The workshop, organized for the newly registered students of CIU FFADA, was held within the scope of the "Basic Design I" course taken by the freshman year students of the Department of Architecture and Interior Architecture.

CIU FFADA Dean Prof. Dr. Cemil Atakara informed that the Hat Design Workshop prepared by the Basic Design Studio staff for the new students who recently joined the department was very successful.

Cypriot fashion designer Yahi, who participated in the workshop as a guest speaker and trainer, talked about the relationship between fashion design and architectural design in his talk with the students; he gave examples from his own experience about the steps to follow during the design process and the methods of attaining success.

Following the talk, the students had the chance to ask questions to the invited designer; Atakara stated that after the question-and-answer session, a workshop was held in the green area of Sustainable Cafe.

During the workshop that lasted all day, the students worked in pairs and designed hats within the framework of the "Basic Design Principles" they learned in the course.

Course instructors Parastoo Pourvahidi, Meray Taluğ, Bedia T. Tekin, Abdullah Can and the guest designer coordinated the students and advised them on their creations.

The designed hats were presented to the university students at the fashion show held in the event area. The event ended with Assist. Prof. Dr. Sertaç İlter, the Chair of the Department of Architecture, presenting a certificate of appreciation to the Fashion Designer Ali K. Yahi for his contributions.
