The dimensions of domestic violence against women will be discussed at CIU

Psychological Counseling and Guidance Club within the body of the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Center (PCGC), Cyprus International University organizes a panel on domestic violence against women in cooperation with the Cyprus Turkish Human Rights and Women’s Shelter under the body of Nicosia Municipality.

The panel will be held in the CIU Çevik Uraz Center Conference Hall and will start on Monday, November 25 at 14.30.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şerife Özbiler, academic counselor for the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Club, who will moderate the panel on “Different Dimensions of Domestic Violence against Women” explained that gender inequality results in domestic violence towards women and they aim to draw attention to this issue.

She also stated that they aimed to raise awareness about domestic violence against women and that Çise Atlas, an attorney from the Turkish Cypriot Human Rights Foundation, Ömür Yılmaz, from the Nicosia Turkish Municipality Women’s Shelter and Gözde Pehlivan, an expert Psychologist from Etki Psychotherapy Center will speak during the event.

In addition to the panel on “Different Dimensions of Domestic Violence against Women” on the campus area of ​​CIU, informative activities on raising awareness by PCGC psychologists will continue simultaneously.

Awareness-raising activities to be held in front of the CIU Social Activity Area and Break Point will take place between 16.00 and 17.00 with the distribution of brochures.
