The main objectives of the Interior Design Associate Degree Program are: to develop original designs that belong to the culture and traditions of the society by integrating the functionality with usability; maintain interdisciplinary cooperation between technical knowledge and art; help students have analytical thinking skills; to educate knowledgeable and responsible individuals on space design who are loyal to ethical values. In addition to these, the objectives of the Interior Design Associate program are: to improve the quality of life of the individuals; encourage the public to create areas that will protect health, safety and well-being. Thus, students are educated with the professional knowledge through the two-year program with Turkish as the medium of instruction.
Technical and scientific knowledge and practices are integrated as a whole in order to provide students with a high quality education during the two-year program. While the technical competence of the students is ensured during their education; they are also informed about the comfort conditions and aesthetic values to meet the physical and emotional requirements of the individuals. To accomplish these goals, in addition to the classrooms and studios, there are a total of 5 workshops where education is offered. These are; Model Studio, Photo Studio, Material Workshop, Serigraphy Studio, and 3-D Impression and Screening Studio. The entrance hall and the corridors in the faculty as well as the entrance of the CIU Library are used as exhibition areas to promote students’ works. The CIU Library hosts about 3,899 publications relevant to the Interior Design program.
Individuals, who graduate from the Interior Design Associate Program, can work at an interior architecture-architecture firm; on interior lighting, furniture, exhibition space design, TV studio and film set design areas. They can also take part in renovation of old structures and restoration projects. Areas such as showrooms, fair exhibitions, professional markets, stage design, and furniture design are included in spaces where our graduates can work. The program, which trains intermediate staff for the sector, will make positive contributions to the economy of the country as it shows a positive structure in terms of the changes in the definition of professional staff. In addition, students who graduate from this program can also benefit from the opportunity to progress academically by pursuing a 4-year program such as Interior Architecture.
